From the moment Andrew Wise and McKenzie Evans first met, they tried to fight the magnetism that pulled them together.  No matter how hard they struggled with their feelings, their love was a force so strong that neither of them could deny it.

The news of Olivia Hamilton’s pregnancy, and the understanding that Drew is the father, led McKenzie to flee with the hope of rectifying her secret betrayal of falling in love with her best friend’s boyfriend. However, when Drew showed up and declared his undying love for her, McKenzie could no longer deny the truth. She and Drew were destined for each other.  McKenzie now has no choice but to face Olivia in order for her and Drew to move on with their lives together.  Secrets and lies may have kept them apart, but now, in the light of the truth, their legacy shines as pure as their love.

For as long as Drew can remember, there has always been tension between him and his father, Jonathan.  This time is proving no different.  Since sharing the truth of his past with McKenzie, Drew is emboldened by her unwavering love and acceptance of the man he is.  He’ll do anything necessary to protect the woman he loves and the life he’s come to understand she deserves.  With Jonathan and Olivia teamed together to rip them apart, Drew and McKenzie, along with the aid of some unexpected allies, must join forces to overcome the obstacles that will inevitably come their way.

Excerpt
The air was filled with the energy of the new school year. Hellos, goodbyes, laughter, and questions swirled around me. New friendships were already being formed and old ones reunited. The pair of flip flops in front of me moved forward, so I followed. After fifteen minutes of the shuffle ‘n stop, I reached the check in desk. An older lady with short salt and pepper hair sat slightly hunched over, partially blocked by a large stack of thick manila envelopes. Never looking up, she recited a generic Welcome to Chambers spiel. All the noisy activity made it hard to hear every little thing the woman said. Her gaze and eyebrows lifted as she stared up at me. Terrific, its starting already. Not sure what to do, I gave her a weak smile and waited for instructions. “Name?” she said, impatiently. I was so flustered that for a second I’d forgotten who I was. “Hollis Murphy.” She scribbled something on a spreadsheet and handed me a packet with my name and the number two hundred ten typed out on sticker, which I assumed was my room. In a flat bored voice, she said, “Everything you need to know is in the packet. Should you have any additional questions or needs after reading the information, please ask your RA. Have a productive semester. Next!” Clutching the envelope to my chest, my gaze shifted back down, and I walked quickly out into the hall. As I turned the corner, a loud deep “woot!” jerked my attention down the hall. I took one step before crashing full force into something solid and warm. I stumbled back, dropping the envelope. When my balance returned, my gaze shot up to see a gray T-shirt with cut off sleeves, stretched across broad shoulders. Glancing down in search of my envelope, I couldn’t help but spot the narrow hips and round ass covered in black basketball shorts. As I squatted to pick up the envelope, a tanned forearm came into view. My gaze roamed up to find the arm was covered in bulging muscles. “Oh god, I’m so…sor..ry,” I stammered, my cheeks heating with embarrassment. “Here ya go,” a deep voice said. As I reached for the envelope, my gaze inadvertently shot up to the warmest green eyes ever created. His dark brown hair was cut short on the sides, longer on top, and tousled. The perfect amount of scuff peppered his strong jawline with deep dimples framing a sexy lopsided smile. The air was immediately sucked from my lungs. He wasn’t just hot, he was boy band hot. A deep chuckle drifted down before I realized he had stood up and was extending his hand to me. Oh boy! I get to touch him! I slipped my hand into his and felt an immediate jolt of electricity. The muscles in his arm twitched. He felt it too. “Thank you,” I said, as he helped me up. “I’m Risher Stevenson.” He was actually introducing himself to me. It had become automatic for me not to look directly at anyone, especially a stranger. Usually, I’d angle my head down and to the right in order to hide the messed up side of my face. But, those green eyes locked me in place. “Hollis Murphy.” “Nice to meet you Hollis Murphy.” “Sorry again about running into you. I need to do a better job at watching where I’m going.” The tip of his tongue slipped between his lips before they formed into a slight smirk. Just as he was about to speak his name came barreling down the hallway. “Rish! Get your ass down here. We’ve got a ton of boxes to haul in.” A blonde haired guy stood at the end of the hall. “I gotta go finish helping my friends move in.” I nodded. Risher took three steps before turning back toward me. “Don’t do too good of a job.” My eyebrows squished together in confusion. “At watching where you’re going. I hate to think I won’t get rump bumped again.” He tossed me a wink before jogging away. I Sasquatched those shoulders, those hips, and that ass all the way down the hall.   AboutTheAuthor alison g bailey

~~About The Author~~

IMG_0256
Hey everyone!!!!
I'm Nicola, known to most people as Nicky. I live with my husband of almost six years and my two cats, Ebony and Georgie, near Birmingham, in the West Midlands. I have loved to write ever since I was at school. My Creative Writing classes were the only ones that held my attention and I always had a story of some kind floating around in my head. This continued throughout my college years when I would write short stories based on anything and everything. When I joined the ranks of the employed in 1997, my writing was put on the backburner, but my passion for the art remained. It wasn't until 2007, when I discovered fanfiction, that I started to write again, mixing my love of writing with my love of TV and movies. I went on to write almost fifty pieces of fanfiction, some of which I am currently adapting to see if they can be released as novels in the future.

In February 2013, something happened that changed my life forever and finally convinced me to do something about all the stories that I had in my head. Losing my father to Cancer affected me more than I think even I wanted to admit. He always encouraged me to do what makes me happy and that is what writing does. I decided that I would finally stop over thinking things and went for it. The Heartland Series was born with the first of five novellas going on sale in October of the same year. The five novellas came together to form one full length novel, Heart and Soul, which is the first in the Heartland Trilogy featuring Samantha and Alistair. The second book in the series, Mind & Soul is due out later this year.

As well as the Heartland books, I also have two works in progress, one called Somewhere Love Remains and a second called Chase the Knight. Both books are unrelated to Heartland and will be standalone. Both of these books will be out and available for purchase before Second City Signing in July.

On a more personal level, whilst writing is my passion, I still maintain a full-time position within one of the top 4 banks in the UK. I enjoy reading as well as writing and own an embarrassing number of paperback and hardbacks as well as a full Kindle Paperwhite. I enjoy running and going to the gym and recently took part in and completed the Birmingham Great Run, a Half Marathon around the streets of Birmingham. I am also a part-time event planner and have arranged numerous events over the last few years ranging from parties to full blown fan conventions. At each event, I raise as much money as possible for MacMillan Cancer, who were a fantastic support to me and my family when my father was first diagnosed and who continue to support us two after his passing.

#CoverReveal ~ Samantha's Secret by Betty Bolté

Samantha's Secret
by Betty Bolté
Series: A More Perfect Union, #3
Genre: Historical Romance
Release Date: April 21, 2015

Midwife and healer, Samantha McAlester returns from the front lines to find Charles Towne under British siege and the town's new doctor at war with its citizens.

Dr. Trent Cunningham intends to build a hospital staffed solely with educated doctors. What he doesn't need is a raven-haired charlatan spooning out herbs and false promises to his patients, while tempting him at every turn.

Then a mutual friend develops a mysterious infection.  Trenton is stumped.  Samantha suspects the cure but knows treatment will expose her long-guarded secret, risking all she holds dear... including Trenton.

“My darling, you look beautiful this evening.” Samantha’s father stopped before her and glanced at her mother. “Don’t you agree?”
“Yes, of course.” Cynthia sipped her wine, cutting off any further comment she may have made.
“Thank you. I’m so pleased that the weather cooperated so we could enjoy the garden tonight.” Samantha let her gaze roam the mingling crowd. “Another week and it will be too chilly to entertain out of doors.”
“Indeed, indeed.” Aaron’s smile faded as he scanned the area, finally focusing on the two-story home. “This house has served us well for many years. It would be hard to find another as fine.”
Samantha darted a look at her father, then noted her mother’s harsh glance and quick squeeze of his arm. “It is a good thing, then, that won’t be necessary. The British will pull out ere long and the town can return to normal.”
“How is Evelyn?” Cynthia asked, abruptly changing the subject. “Pray tell me she is not still crying over that man.”
“It is to be expected she’d grieve the death of the father of her child,” Samantha said, shaking her head, “even if he did treat her abysmally in the end. At one time, she must have felt something for him.”
“Ah, you’re being sought out.” Aaron motioned for her to precede him down the path. “Time for your annual salute. Are you ready?”
She nodded, aware of a sense of relief emanating from her parents, and made her way down the path, her shoes crunching the shells with each step.
Benjamin handed her a flute of sparkling wine when she reached the group of people gathered by the banquet table. She frowned, worry blooming inside. His mouth was pinched as though he fought pain. Not surprising after receiving a gunshot wound to the shoulder that morning when he fought off the last of the renegades with a little help from Amy. She peered closer.
“Benjamin, are you feeling well?” Samantha studied his expression.
“I’m fine, a touch tired after the day’s exertions.” He wiped his hand down his dove gray evening coat then raised his gaze to look over Samantha’s head. “You made it!”
She turned to see who Benjamin greeted and froze, her flute trembling in her fingers, the liquid sloshing within the fragile crystal. Dr. Trenton Cunningham. His sandy blond hair waved back from his open expression, his crystal blue eyes echoing the wide smile revealing even white teeth. Broad shoulders filled the dark blue evening coat he wore, a canary yellow cravat neatly tied at his throat and tucked into an elaborately embroidered waistcoat. Creamy breeches and black leather boots completed his attire. Despite the formality of his clothes, Dr. Trent appeared as though he’d recently arrived on board a ship from some distant port. Fresh and windblown and ready for adventure.
Trent was a gorgeous man, strong and clever, and extraordinarily dangerous to her sense of wellbeing. Her breath hitched and she forced herself to remain still, appear calm, even as her heart raced. This feeling of imbalance and rushing emotions had never happened to her before.
She turned back to face the remaining guests, and raised her glass.
“My friends, we gather this evening as in years past to rejoice in the bounty we’ve realized this year. As our country begins to define our government and create a new society, consider the wise words from the lauded Anna Bradstreet, some called the Tenth Muse back in her day, in her wonderful Meditations, Divine and Moral.”
Trent locked eyes with her, disconcerting her already roiling thoughts. She took a breath and smiled at the gathering.
“She reminded us that, ‘Authority without wisdom is like a heavy axe without an edge, fitter to bruise than polish.’ Pray keep this thought in mind as the year draws to a close and we face new challenges. Our governor and other state leaders will need our support and God’s guidance.”
Glasses clinked all around her to the accompaniment of “Huzza! Huzza!”
She sipped her wine, the cheer of the moment echoing inside her heart. Scanning the crowd, she watched as others mimicked her actions. All but two of her guests anyway. A chill froze her smile into place.
