"Okay," I said. "It started this morning, after we got back from the airport.” I told her about the phone calls, showed her the Private Number in my call history.

She examined the phone then handed back. "And you're sure it was Finn."

"I know his voice, Linds. It was him."

Lindsay frowned. "But why? Why would he call you from some blocked number and then say he didn't?"

I collapsed in on myself, clutching my arms across my roiling stomach. "I don't know. It doesn't make any sense. I know it sounds crazy—"

"You are not crazy," she said firmly. And that pretty much summed up our friendship. No matter what, Lindsay had my back.

"There's more," I said slowly. "Finn seems . . . weird. Off, somehow. Different. I can't explain it. I keep thinking I'm imagining things - it's Finn, you know?"

Lindsay nodded, although I was sure she had no idea.

"But then, a couple of times today . . . " I considered my words carefully. "He'd do something or say something and it just seemed like he was . . . different. It was like he wasn't . . . " I swallowed. "Finn."

Lindsay's eyes widened. "Okay, that's just creepy."

"I know—"

"Like some Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Exorcist kind of stuff." She shuddered.

"I know!" I stood up and crossed to the window, turned and paced back. "I know how it sounds, and I can't explain it. But I know Finn, and something is wrong, Linds. I don't know what it is, but something's wrong."

But then things get . . . weird. Finn’s acting strange, and Ro’s getting mysterious phone calls that have her questioning if her boyfriend’s really who she thinks he is. As Ro races to figure out what’s going on, she discovers it’s more complicated than she could have ever imagined.

And if she’s not careful, she could lose her Finn forever.

I loved this short story. It has a twist in it that has a feel of the Twilight Zone. I could not put it down. You really feel for Ro as she tries to figure out if what is happening is real or has she gone crazy. And then bring in her strange best friend and you got a wild ride. There twist and turns to solve the mystery and she is running out of time. This is a great story for a short read.

He slowly moves his face away from mine and drinks some of his drink. As he places the glass back on the bar, he says, “I’m Jett.”

“Presley.”

A smile tugs at his lips. “Your parents are Elvis fans?”

“My mother is and my father is blinded by love. She could have called me Elvis and he wouldn’t have blinked.”

This inspires a laugh out of him. “Your parents are still happily married?”

“Yeah, go figure. How many marriages do you know of that are still going strong after thirty years?”

His eyes twinkle. “My parents are still happy after thirty-five years. I guess you and I are like some weird science experiment. It kinda sucks, really.”

Frowning, I ask, “Why?”

He throws the rest of his drink back, his eyes still twinkling. “When you don’t come from a fucked-up family, you can hardly blame your issues on your parents, can you? Nope, you and me, we have to own our fucking issues.”

I burst out laughing. “You are so right. Shit, pass me my drink, I can’t cope with this knowledge.”

Shaking his head, he holds my drink away from me. “Bad idea, sweetheart. You have no one to blame your alcoholism on except yourself. I suggest you give up alcohol straight away and find a new vice that’s not as socially unacceptable as alcohol addiction.”

Oh, this is fun. I raise my eyebrows. “What do you suggest?”

He doesn’t even hesitate. “Sex addiction. Take that shit up. Much easier to hide from public view. And a lot more fucking fun than dealing with hangovers.”

“I wouldn’t know the first thing about taking that up. You think you could help me with that?”

He pulls a face like it’s the hardest question he’s ever been asked. Nodding, he says, “Sure. You want to get started now?”

My core clenches at the thought, and I lean into him and say, “You’ve no idea how much I want to get started on that now, Jett.”

He sucks in a breath, and his hand curls around my neck. “You sure? Because once I’m finished with you, you’re going to have an addiction that will be hard to kick.”

Again Nina has done it again. This book is HOT!!! Jett is a Rock Star who knows who he is and what he wants. Presley is a photographer, whose marriage is over. Grabbing her roughly by the arm, he hauled her back until she was flush

against him, her back to his front. Grinding his erection into her ass, he

lowered his lips to her ear. “You think you can push me like that and I won’t

respond?” He taunted, nipping her ear painfully. She let out a low moan, her

body beginning to betray her.

“You’re mine. I won’t share you, and I’ll be damned if I let anything happen to

you, Gwyn. The sooner you get it through your head that I own you now, the

better.” His hand trailed down her body, cupping her aching pussy through

her shorts. Feeling her heat, he groaned. Dragging them backwards, he hit

one of the tall trees, his hands coming up to brace her shoulders.

“Brady, please,” she begged. Her body was a slow fire, desire taking over

every part of her being. This man and his fierce possessiveness of her

awakened a darkness in her she didn’t know existed. He pinched her nipples

roughly through her thin shirt, her back arching against him.

“You want my cock, sugar? Right here out in the open?”

Looking into his eyes, she was terrified by what she saw there. There was no soul in him, he truly was a man with no morals, no compassion. His grin was filled with malice, there was no mistaking his intentions. Why the hell had she been so stupid to fall for his act? Fuck Hailey, one smile. One smile from him and look where it got you. Strung up on a hook like a motherfucking piece of meat!

“Darlin, just look at you. Quite the perfect picture you make. Why, you look like a feast. My feast.” At his words, Hailey froze, halting in her attempts to swing herself off the hook her bounds hands were attached to.

“Feast? I’m not your fucking feast, you asshole! Let me down from here,” her protests fell on deaf ears. Ignoring her pleas, he slowly approached.

Leaning in close, he brought his nose within an inch of hers. Close enough to touch, however he just breathed in her scent, staring into her eyes menacingly. “Get away from me, you prick. If you touch me, I swear, I’ll reach down your throat grab your balls and yank them up through your nose. Do. Not. Touch. Me!” Jerking away, she glared at him with fire in her eyes. He looked amused by her outburst, not the least bit frightened or intimidated.

“Sugar, there’s an expression...maybe you’ve heard it. Makes your blood run cold. You know, I’ve been on a mission, trying to find cold blood that runs out from a warm body.” Frowning, he turned the knife over in his hands, studying the blade. “Unfortunately, I haven’t had much luck. But you,” he pointed at her with the knife. “You might be the one I’ve been looking for. Let’s find out shall we?”

Happy Release Day Me and Mom Fell For Spencer by Diane Munier Relase Day Blitz

The house next door to Sarah and her mother Marie has been vacant since the murder that happened there when Sarah was ten. Their neighbor, Frieda, was like a second mother to Sarah and she died brutally and the neighborhood never recovered. No one has lived in Frieda’s house for seventeen years. Imagine Sarah’s surprise when it finally sells to an on-line buyer. She looks through the thick growth separating her house from the other and a wild man looks back. He’s not exactly wild. He’s thirty-seven year old Spencer Gundry. Once he shaves the beard and gets a haircut, he’s not hard to look at. Well Sarah’s mom doesn’t think so, and neither does she. Problem is, Spencer has a few secrets of his own.

Things don’t sell quickly in this town, that’s for sure. But with the murder, no one wanted Frieda’s haunted house even though it was repainted beige and all personal knick-knacks were long gone. Such as blood spray on the walls. No one wanted that really.

So imagine my shock, or dismay I should say, when he moves in. I see him over the fence. I go out there because the squirrels keep stealing my sweet corn and I only planted four short rows. So I go out there to whack a stick at the squirrels and I see that rental truck in front of the place and no sooner do I think about that and here he comes from around the back of it.

Right off I am interested. I mean, who buys a house where…who does that?

But I’m oohing and owing my way to the backdoor cause, no shoes, and I am nearly there when he calls out, in a very handsome voice, a voice so nice I would know it belonged to a very handsome man if it’s all I had to go on. And he is handsome. I knew that at the three second glance when he’d first manifested from the back of the rental truck.

The closer he gets the more right I am. And I have to make myself not bolt.
